The Story So Far......
Straight Shooter was formed in the UK near Bristol and Bath in 2005 when Mike and Sim found themselves without a band after growing tired of the bands they had recently been involved with. The idea was to start a band playing what they wanted to play without having to compromise too much on the type of material they chose.
First on the "to do list" was to work out who their favourite local guitarist was. The answer to that wasn't too hard to come by......Andy Spongalero. Andy said yes straight away so they moved on to finding a Bassist. Nick Crombie joined soon after Andy and then they just had to find a second guitarist. When this proved to be a lot harder than they thought and their first gig was looming fast, Mike dusted off his old guitar and stepped up to the plate and got practising.
The set list wasn't too hard to come up with. Both Sim and Mike were brought up on strict diet of Thin Lizzy, The Who, AC/DC, Whitesnake and Bad Company, so they decided to pick thirty of their favourite songs from that genre. That was just to get started.
After gigging solid for about a year Nick decided to leave the band and they had to find someone to fill his very big shoes so they asked Phil to join, who played for Sim's other band Rattlesnake Shake. Phil fitted in straight away and did his first gig at the Kings Arms Bath on the 30th of December 2006 and played with them on New Years Eve too. Talk about in at the deep end!!
Since then, things have carried on pretty much the way they were planned and Straight Shooter continue to rock out all over the southwest of England.
If you would like to book Straight Shooter at your local pub, show the landlord the website and get him to contact us. And if you want us to play at your party........don't expect to hear any songs by The Carpenters or something your Granny knows 'cos it aint gonna happen!! Straight Shooter do what they do be it in a tiny sweaty pub, at a festival or at your Aunties 70th birthday party and they don't water down the music!...YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!!
So if it's a night of full on, straight ahead classic rock you want, Straight Shooter are the band you're looking for.
